Vishay has introduced a major enhancement to its AC and AC-AT series of gel-sealed,axial-lead wirewound resistors.5-watt devices now feature an SMD bent pin option for SMD pick-and-place convenience, labelled as a WSZ pin form, enabling them to be used as surface-mount components. This innovation is expected to optimise the assembly process, reduce costs and increase efficiency in a variety of applications.
The Vishay AC05 WSZ and AEC-Q200-compliant AC05-AT WSZ resistors offer excellent pulse withstand capability, while a non-inductive version, the AC05-NI WSZ,is available for fast switching circuits.Designed to meet the changing needs of automotive and industrial electronics, energy metering instruments, and appliance power supplies, these resistors can be used as suppressors and current limiters for pre-charge/discharge applications.
By introducing the WSZ bent pin format, the resistors can be seamlessly integrated onto the PCB with other surface mount components, optimising the pick and place process. This advancement not only speeds up assembly time, but also helps reduce costs. In addition, these devices are rated at 5 kW peak power for 1-microsecond pulse loads and offer a wide range of resistor values from 0.10 ohms to 10 kOhms, ensuring versatility in a variety of applications.
The AC05 WSZ and AC05-AT WSZ resistors feature a rugged,non-flammable silicone seal for operation in harsh conditions.Complying with UL 94 V-0 standards, these elements provide reliable performance over a wide temperature range of-55°C to+250°C.They have been engineered to provide a high degree of reliability over a wide temperature range.Their winding structure is engineered to withstand mechanical resistance and thermal shock, ensuring durability and long life in harsh environments.
In addition, these devices are RoHS-compliant,halogen-free,and feature tin-plated terminals for compatibility with lead-free and leaded soldering processes, meeting environmental regulations and industry standards.
